All Ages are Welcome!

Children are very welcome at Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ, and we involve the children and youth in in all aspects of our church life. Some of the ways we do that are outlined here.

We are a “Safe Sanctuary” congregation.  All employed staff that have contact with children and youth are required to authorize a criminal background check. Both staff and volunteers annually receive training in our Safe Sanctuary policy, as well as in how to prevent and recognize signs of abuse. Please feel free to contact Pastor Deb Kunkel with questions, suggestions or requests for additional information simply by emailing her here.

Sunday School for K-8th grade

May-October during the 10 a.m. service and November-April during the 9:00 a.m. service, children and youth are invited to go with Ms. Kathy for Sunday School. Children stay in the sanctuary during the beginning of the service and then leave for class after the Children’s Moment.

Sunday Nursery During Services

For infants through preschool we offer Nursery School at the 10:00 a.m. service from May through October, and during the 9:00 a.m. service from November through April. In addition, our nursery is staffed during the 11:00 a.m. service from November through April in order to provide childcare for this age group.

Sanibel Christian Preschool

Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ is proud to host Sanibel Christian Preschool. Led by VPK Teacher D'Ann Miller, our Preschool provides students with a warm and welcoming environment in which to nurture each individual's development emotionally, educationally, physically and spiritually. Children are introduced to both classical music and other fine arts, and encouraged to experience these through multiple sensory expressions, including their own creative interpretations.  As a ministry of the Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ, the Preschool shares in the congregation's practice that all people are God’s loved children, welcoming children and families of all backgrounds.  We offer scholarships, enabling families in all economic situations an affordable, quality education. For an application or more information, please contact the Preschool through the church office at 472-0497.
